The Hangover

Hey everyone, have you ever saw someone that was hungover from a wild night? or perhaps you have some memory of being hungover a time or two? Either way, it' s that awful feeling you have the next day after partying /drinking really hard the night before! Now some people enjoy hangovers (strange), but I never did. It was always a reminder of how dumb I was to do all that I was doing the night before. Yet I know that some take a hangover as a reminder of the 'good time' they had, just a few hours ago.

Now why am I saying all this? Well, now i'm certainly not drinking anymore (thank God) and I'm not having awful hangovers the next morning. But what I am having these days, are AWESOME encounters with God, that leave me feeling a bit, well, hungover. I mean take yesterday for instance, I went to church and it was far from 'church as usual'. The presence of God just overtook us all and people began to praise and lift up God with all their heart and strength. As I enjoyed the Lord, I also encouraged some of my brothers and sisters to do the same.

It became a family affair as we all joined together to shout, sing, dance and just bask in God's presence until we couldn't take anymore!! It was awesome. As God began to speak and use different ones in different ways, I just soaked it all up and when it finally came to an end-I was exhausted-but in a good way. Like I just sat back and took a deep breath and reflected on what a great time I just had with God and my family.

So this morning when I woke up.......you guessed it, I was feeling a little 'hungover'. Not sick to my stomach or my head pounding every second, but I just had that sense of contentment as I thought on how hard I had partied with Christ the day before! Yes it was fun, it was amazing, it was breathtaking and realistically-I am simply tired. Our spirit can certainly out last our physical bodies! So maybe 'hangover' isn't the word i'm looking for, but hopefully you get my point and I got your attention at least. LOL.

God was amazing yesterday and He still is today. That's what I love about Him, he just keeps on being great and He doesn't change. I wish you all could have been there with me yesterday, but I'm sure you have had your own encounters with God on yesterday. If you did, I'd like to hear about it.
So be strong, be blessed and go through this week with JOY and LOVE.

2011 is here!

GREETINGS!
I've finally got my blog back, wow I can't believe it's been two years!
Well so much has happened and God is doing so many amazing things, there will be much to chat about this year. I'm so amazed that 2011 is even here, I mean I used to dream of writing those numbers on my papers at school. LOL.
It's amazing how things can seem so far away at one moment, and then when it happens it's almost unreal. Anyhow, this week is a busy week so I might start (officially) blogging next week. My church is celebrating TWO years of ministry, I'm so excited!!!!! Having a new ministry is a lot of hard work, but anniversaries let you see all that you've accomplished and give you reason to CELEBRATE. I don't know about you but I'm always looking for a reason to have a Celebration!

I saw the funniest movie over the weekend (it's an old one) but a goodie, i'll blog about that next time! Its a comedy and one I would definitely reccommend for a girls night out.

Story of the Week

Gianna's Joy

It was a snowy afternoon and Gianna was waiting for her husband to come home. Usually she would be at work, but she was sick with the flu. She gathered her strength and sat in her bay window, looking out at the snow as it fell. Thoughts of shoveling and driving through the bad weather-made her feel down.

Tonight was her parent's 30th wedding anniversary party and she just had to be there to celebrate. With her head pounding and nose running, she cringed at the idea of picking out something cute and comfy to wear. Time was not on her side, the party was just a few hours away and she hadn't even combed her hair today.

All the way across the room, the phone was ringing.

By the time Gianna got to it, she had missed the call, but thankful the person called back again. "Hello" she answered. To Gianna's suprise, her dad was on the other end. "I'm outside kiddo, open up the door" her dad told her. Gianna peeped out her window and smiled when she saw her mom and dad standing on her front porch.

"We heard you weren't feeling well, and since the weather is bad, we moved the celebration to next saturday" Gianna's mom said as she handed her a wonderful fruit basket. It wasn't long before Gianna's husband and three kids were home. Everyone worked to clean up her home, fix her a great dinner and even helped her style her hair.

At the end of the evening, everyone drank some hot chocolate and watched some old family videos together. Gianna was grateful to God for her family and for their concern. A few days later she was back on her feet and feeling back to normal. Gianna got word that one of the elderly women at her church had got the flu and wasn't doing well.

So she asked some of the sisters from church to go with her and visit the woman. They helped to clean the woman's house, cook her some dinner and prayed with her. As Gianna was washing the elderly woman's dishes, she realized something-she was called to this. She drove home smiling as she thought of how they had helped that woman feel better about herself and her home.

So Gianna prayed and asked God about her new found desire to help the sick. She met with her pastor's wife and talked about how she could start helping those that were sick and shut in at their church. So prayerfully they formed a team of women who felt the same desire that Gianna felt. Together they worked to start a new ministry to the sick.

Even with a husband and three kids, Gianna made time to take the joy she received that day when her parents showed up, and share it with whomever would receive it. From house to house she went and brightened someone's day. Giana was amazed that God would use her to do such a great work for Him. She couldn't believe all that she had learned and did, just from being sick that day.
